Tucson Wagon and History Museum 1/14/2025
Trip Cost $15
The Tucson Wagon and History Museum (formerly known as the Rodeo Parade Museum) features over 100 historic horse-drawn vehicles including the Maximillian & Carlotta coronation carriage (the last Emperor and Empress of Mexico) and carriages featured in Oklahoma, McClintock, and other western-themed movies. The museum also provides a unique and fascinating look at life in Tucson in the early 1900s, including a blacksmith shop, saddle shop, and many other exhibits and period artifacts from the turn of the 20th century.
We’ll meet at the Photography Club at 8:30 AM for departure at 8:45 AM. Please wear your GVR Photography Club or Camera Club badge, if you have one. For those carpooling, $6.00 is an appropriate contribution to the driver.
We will drive to the museum where free parking is provided for guests. There we’ll be met by a docent, who will guide us through the various exhibits. This behind-the-scenes tour will enable participants to use tripods, monopods, and flash equipment. The tour should take approximately 2 1/2 hours, ending around noon.
The tour involves extensive walking and standing. Club members with mobility issues may find this tour challenging.
Following the tour, participants are invited to a no-host lunch at one of the many local Mexican restaurants where the trip will end about 1:30 PM. We should return to Green Valley by 2:30 PM.
Additional information about the Tucson Wagon and History Museum is available here.
