Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience (9/22/2023)

Have you ever dreamed of stepping into a painting? Now you can with this exhibition that has been touring since 2017 with +5,000,000 visitors! Step into a 20,000 square-foot light and sound spectacular exhibit featuring two-story projections of the artist's most compelling work. A virtual reality experience enables you to walk alongside Van Gogh during a visually rich journey into the inspiration behind eight of his iconic works, including Vincent's Bedroom at Aries and Starry Night Over the Rhone. Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience reinvents the concept of museums. Get to know the artist and his art like never before with the help of exquisite storytelling and cutting-edge technology.
The exhibit is being held at the Oro Valley Marketplace, 12155 North Oracle Road, Oro Valley, AZ 85737. Parking is free for 2 hours in lot P2425 with validation. Please, have your license plate number ready at the box office. The experience takes around 60 to 75 minutes, but you are welcome to stay as long as you want. Photography and videography is allowed, but flash photography and tripods are not permitted.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike most field trips, participants with need to purchase their own tickets in advance to take advantage of the senior discount ($29.90 plus fees per person). Due to the expected high demand for tickets, participants are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible for the 10:00 a.m session on September 22nd. If the 10:00 a.m. session is sold out, try for the 10:30 a.m. session. Tickets can be purchased here, and are generally non-refundable. Once you have your ticket(s), be sure to register for the field trip on the GVR Photography Club website so we know to expect you.
We will depart the Van Gogh exhibit around noon for lunch at Charrovida, located in the Casas Adobes Plaza (near the Whole Foods Market at the intersection of Oracle and Ina Road), followed by dessert at Frost Gelato just a few doors down. The trip will end around 1:30 p.m.
Meet at the Photography Club at 8:15 AM for departure at 8:30 AM. Please wear your GVR Photography Club or GVR Camera Club nametag, if you have one.
For those carpooling, $5.00 is an appropriate contribution to the driver.
GVR requires that every person participating in club's field trips must sign a waiver absolving GVR of any liability. You will be required to sign the waiver at the Photography Club before the trip departs.

NOTICE:
This is a walking tour that lasts about 1 1/2 hours. All participants need to be responsible for an assessment of their mobility and health issues relating to field trips. Some trips may not be appropriate, but you must make that determination. However, the trip leader may deny participation in a specific field trip to anyone deemed not suitably prepared or able to walk with the group.
The club strives to provide several field trips specifically designed for members with physical limitations.
In order to participate in this event, you must be a member of the GVR Photography Club and GVR.
