Group Overview and Objectives

The Photoshop/Lightroom Special Interest Group (SIG) is a dedicated forum for photographers, editors, and digital artists who utilize Adobe’s industry-standard photography applications. The primary focus of this group is to explore Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom Classic, with a specific emphasis on navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) in image processing.

As Adobe continues to integrate machine learning and generative AI into its Creative Cloud ecosystem, this SIG serves as a collaborative environment for members to learn, discuss, and master these new workflows. Sessions are designed to help users transition from traditional editing techniques to modern, AI-assisted methods that enhance creativity and optimize efficiency.

1. New Feature Exploration
   Regular deep dives into the latest software updates for Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. Participants will learn how to implement newly released tools immediately into their post-processing workflows.

2. AI-Driven Image Processing
   Comprehensive demonstrations of Adobe Sensei and Adobe Firefly technologies. Discussions will cover the practical applications of generative tools, including automated object removal, generative expansion, advanced neural filters, and intelligent upscaling.

3. Workflow Optimization
   Strategies for utilizing AI to streamline tedious tasks. This includes leveraging assisted culling features, automated metadata tagging, and smart stacking in Lightroom Classic to drastically reduce the time spent between capture and final output.

4. Advanced Masking and Selections
   Mastering AI-powered masking tools to make precise adjustments. Sessions will cover subject, sky, and background detection, as well as fine-tuned portrait enhancements like facial hair, clothing, and eye adjustments.

5. Collaborative Problem Solving
   Open floor discussions where members can share their own techniques, ask troubleshooting questions, and evaluate the ethical and practical implications of AI in modern photography.
