Ignite Sign Art Museum, A Neon Attraction 1/25/2025
Cost: $16.00
Discover Ignite, the neon sign museum in Tucson. It's a vibrant homage to the city's rich history and culture. Located near downtown Tucson, just off the Sunshine Mile Historic District. This museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in the art of neon signs and their significance in American history.
As you step into the museum, you are greeted by a dazzling array of neon signs that date back to the early 20th century. Each sign tells a unique story, reflecting the businesses and establishments that once illuminated the streets of Tucson. From retro motels to classic diners, the neon signs on display capture the essence of a bygone era.
We’ll meet at the Photography Club upper-level parking lot at 9:15 AM for carpooling, departure at 9:30 AM. Please wear your GVR Photography Club or Camera Club badge, if you have one. For those carpooling, $8.00 is an appropriate contribution to the driver.
Jude Cook and his amazing team of volunteers tend to work on sign restorations and new displays most Saturdays during their regular hours, so there may be an opportunity to see what's going on behind-the-scenes. During your visit you’re welcome to visit with their knowledgeable staff and volunteers about the projects they are working on.
The museum encourages visitors to capture and share photography for personal, noncommercial use. Only handheld cameras with attached standard flash equipment are allowed during museum hours.
Please note: Some signs and displays at Ignite have flashing lights which may be a concern to anyone who has epilepsy or is photosensitive, so please consider that before signing up.
Following the tour, participants are invited to a no-host lunch at the Culinary Dropout, 2543 East Grant Road, for their weekend brunch.
