Byron J. Myers, Professional Graphic Artist - October Meeting Speaker

Byron J. Myers, a professional graphic artist with over 20 years of experience in graphic design industry creating graphic design work for almost every advertising medium – from print design to electronic mediums including web design. Although his graphic design work often encompasses a wide variety of design skills, photography has always been a major element of his design partly due to his interest in photography from his teens. On his 14th birthday, his grandfather gave to him a Pentax K-1000 35mm camera which started his journey into photography. At that time he was taking pictures of anything and everything, always experimenting with aperture and shutter settings although he had no understanding of the exposure triangle or of other photography skills.

His work as a graphic designer took another turn towards photography when the digital camera revolution hit and, shortly after, the introduction of panoramic virtual tour photography. One of his clients at the time was an RV dealership that needed virtual tours of their high-end motorhomes to display on their website, and he became one of the early adopters of IPIX software and hardware for shooting these specialized images. Since then he has developed and incorporated more skills in shooting both virtual tours and architectural photography for commercial real estate and beyond.

In the last few years, his interest in photography has been expanding outside the workplace as he has been experimenting with time lapse photography, long exposure photography and landscape photography. He often will bring his camera with him on mountain bike rides to experiment with shots out in nature. And most recently he has been doing fashion photography for Jenna Miller of Ravenna Old West (specializing in costume design for the film industry and much more).
