John Scott - December Speaker Series

John is an Old West entertainer and living historian. He is owner of Arizona Ghostriders, an award-winning 1880’s performance group.

He attended the New School in New York City for computer graphics and is familiar with Photoshop, which he uses to adjust and prepare photos for the videos on the group’s YouTube channel. For a look at one of John's videos, click HERE.

When not getting shot with blank guns and dying in the street, John is the general manager of Simutek, an Apple Premier Partner located in Tucson.

• Using the Ken Burns effect in Final Cut Pro which is really a pan and zoom shot. I use these for a slideshow that gives the appearance of a moving image. Adding the right music and setting it up like a story makes it almost cinematic.
  
  
• LUTs (Look Up Tables)
  Using mathematical formulas for color grading an image. For instance, I wanted a look that was like the new television series Westworld, where some colors look desaturated and there is a slight yellow cast. (I’ll show an example). Peter McKinnon, who creates and uses LUTs for his photography, has a YouTube channel.
