Streetcar/Art Trip
Cost $15
The Tucson Streetcar Art field trip features some of the many unique works of public art displayed at the streetcar stations. With our included 24 hour streetcar pass, we will disembark at chosen stations to view selected artists' interpretation of the project theme "Flow". Art pieces have elements of light, movement, poetry, and/or visual art.
We will meet at the Camera Club at 8:45 AM, depart at 9:00 AM to carpool to the Mercado San Agustin at the corner of Congress and Avenida Convento, the first streetcar stop. Alinda, our tour guide will lead the trip from here on. Participants will get off and on the streetcar at the stops that have public art. She will tell about the title, artist, and about how the work fits into the theme chosen for all the public art for this project. She will also talk about some of Tucson's history.
There is some walking (the equivalent of about 4 blocks at the second stop and also some walking from the streetcar stop to and from the restaurant) so it is advised that participants wear comfortable shoes, a hat if needed, and bring a bottle of water. Please wear your GVR Camera Club badge if you have one.
The group will stop about half way through the stops to eat lunch at Gentle Ben's on University near the campus at your own expense. An automatic 20% gratuity will be added to the cost of your lunch.
Because the group will be at the mercy of the streetcar and the tempo of the group, we may not get back to the parked cars until 2-2:30 PM.
Cost of the trip is $15.00 (includes streetcar pass). No refunds after January 6, 2020
