Milky Way Astro Photography 3/20/2023
Trip Cost: None
Have you ever wanted to photograph the stars with nothing but your camera--no special equipment, no toting telescopes? This trip is for you!
We will be going to Canoa Preserve Park to photograph the Milky Way over the Santa Rita Mountains. Canoa Preserve Park is about a mile south of the Pickleball Center on S Camino De La Canoa, which is off East White House Canyon Road (which takes you to Madera Canyon).
There is a new moon on the 20th, so there will be very dark skies and the Milky Way should pop!! Sunrise is at 6:30AM, so it will be very dark until about 4:45AM. We will meet at Canoa Preserve Park at 4 AM and stay until 5 AM.
Following the photo shoot, those interested will go to Denny’s for breakfast and to share photos.
Cliff DeJong, our leader for this trip, will send out an email to all registered members a week prior to the field trip, with camera settings and other tips. The Milky Way will be very similar to the photo above, taken March 5, 2021 at 4:35 AM. Cliff will also circulate through the participants at the photo shoot to answer questions and assist with settings.
GVR requires that every person participating in the club's field trips must sign a waiver absolving GVR of any liability. Cliff will be at Canoa Ranch Preserve by 3:45 AM and will have the Waiver of Liability Form for all to sign prior to participation.
There is no cost for this event.
If it is necessary to reschedule due to weather, emails will be sent to registrants.
Please note: We are asking all who would like to attend to be sure to sign up so you will go on the waitlist even though you won't be able to go on this trip if it is full. This will allow us plan future trips.
For questions call Cliff at (720) 340-9194 or email at cliff@dejongllc.com.
If you need to cancel please contact Field Trip Coordinator Lynn Rozema at lrozema51@gmail.com. On the day of departure call Cliff.
