Birding/Nature Photography: Arthur Pack Regional Park / Audubon Headquarters -- Thursday 3/18/25

Cost:  Free but you must register to attend

PLEASE NOTE:  We currently have no leader for this event. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Monica Parker at mparker582@aol.com, otherwise we will have to cancel the trip.

Authur Pack Regional Park is a large recreation area. The golf course with ponds and an area of Sonoran Desert scrub vegetation with Ironwood trees attracting a wide but unpredictable variety of water birds, including the possibility of loons, grebes, herons and diving ducks. The 4.7 miles of gentle hiking trails provide a surprisingly remote feeling for a suburban park. Harris Hawks can be seen in the desert scrub at the south end of the parks.  Other common sightings are the Guilded Flicker, Gila Woodpecker, Verdin, Cactus Wren, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher and the Curved-billed Thrasher can be seen along the 2-mile trail through desert scrub in the Maeveen Behan Desert Sanctuary.

The Tucson Audubon Society's Mason Center is adjacent to Arthur Pack Park's southeast corner.  The Mason Center is located on 20 acres of mostly undisturbed saguaro-ironwood habitat and is home to many Sonoran Desert birds and animals.

We will meet at the Photography Club upper-level parking lot at 7:30 for an 7:45 departure.

GVR requires that every person participating in Photography Club Field Trips must sign a one-time waiver prior to departure absolving GVR of any liability.  You may sign the waiver the morning of the trip, if you have not already done so.
