Millions of parrots suffer in captivity while wild parrot populations face serious threats worldwide. The Oasis Sanctuary provides a safe, stable, lifelong sanctuary for nearly 800 parrots, offering freedom from cages whenever possible and environments that support natural flock behavior.
Janet joined The Oasis in 2007, after experiencing a pivotal life event, and became its second-generation Executive Director in 2010. Janet’s passion for parrot welfare extends beyond the sanctuary, as she provides in-home foster care for several special-needs birds. She is a frequent speaker on parrot welfare, ethical captivity, and lifelong sanctuary care.
