Birding/Nature: Peña Blanca Lake - Tuesday, 11/11/2025
Cost: Free but you must register to attend.
Please note: Pena Blanca Lake is now an Arizona State Park with a $20 entrance fee per vehicle (max of 4).
Located in the Pajarito Mountain foothills of Nogales, Arizona, the lake is surrounded by grassy, oak-dotted hills, some topped with bluffs of limestone. This is a popular fishing lake, but you can see unusual birds and waterfowl as well. The walking is easy on fairly level paths.
Please be sure to wear flat shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lunch and water. Please wear your GVR Photography Club badge, if you have one.
For those carpooling, $15.00 is an appropriate contribution to the driver for gas.
Meet at the Photography Club upper-level parking lot at 7:30 AM for carpooling, departure at 8:00.
Please contact Denise at (309) 830-0177 or email her at rurt2dede@gmail.com if you have any questions.
GVR requires every person participating in Photography Club Field Trips must sign a waiver prior to departure absolving GVR of any liability. You may sign the waiver at the Photography Club or the morning of the trip, if you have not completed one already.
If you need to cancel, please contact the Field Trip Co-Chair Lynn Rosema at 719-351-5193 or email lrozema51@gmail.com. We may have people on the wait list to take your place.
All participants need to be responsible for an assessment of their mobility and health issues relating to field trips. Some trips may not be appropriate, but you must make that determination. However, the trip leader may deny participation in a specific field trip to anyone deemed not suitably prepared or able to walk with the group.
The club strives to provide several field trips specifically designed for members with physical limitations.
In order to participate in this event, you must be a member of the GVR Photography Club and GVR.
